The 2025 legislative session has been one of the most consequential for Texas schools and libraries in recent memory. Lawmakers approved a school voucher program. They're working to add billions in school funding. They're debating stricter requirements for hiring teachers. They're overhauling student discipline rules. They're hoping to ban DEI programs while requiring the Ten Commandments to hang on classroom walls.
On Wednesday, June 11, after the session concludes, join the Tribune's weekly podcast, Tribcast, at the downtown Austin Central Library Special Event Space or online to discuss what happened and look ahead toward the impact on Texas schools and libraries.
The Tribune's editor-in-chief, Matthew Watkins, and law and politics reporter Eleanor Klibanoff will be joined by public education reporter Jaden Edison and Christine Mihealsick, AP Environmental Science Teacher at Westwood High School and NBCT 2025 Texas Teacher of the Year.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. at the library's Special Events Center. The live broadcast begins at 7 p.m., with audience Q&A to follow.
